Medicare Basics
In general, you probably qualify for Medicare if:
- You are at least 65 years old
- You are a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident who has lived in the U.S. for at least five years
- You or your spouse has worked long enough to qualify for Social Security, or you or your spouse is a government worker/retiree who paid Medicare payroll taxes
If you don’t qualify for benefits, you can still get coverage by paying premiums for Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and/or Medicare Part B (doctor visits).
Medi-Cal Benefits For Californians
