• Supplemental Security Income (SSI): SSI, which is paid for through general federal tax revenues, provides monthly income for elderly, blind and disabled people with little or no ability to work. Since SSI has specific income requirements, some people earn too much to qualify.
• Health Coverage through Medicare or Medicaid: If you are awarded SSDI benefits, you will qualify for health coverage through Medicare. SSI recipients will receive health coverage through Medicaid.
